The short cut

The short cut
Everyone slowly gets in the classic white van after having a delicious, filling breakfast at the bakery. We are all very grateful that the man in the bakery told us about the short cut. “It should save us a few hours taking this short-cut.” says Elliot's mum. Everyone nods tiredly, it’s going to be a long day.

The car slowly progresses on the dusty old road, passing many large vibrant oak trees and small sad drooping willow trees. We are surrounded by large lush green meadows of flowers with bees buzzing around collecting to take back to their hive to make scrumptious honey. Their are colourful butterflies flying around playing with their friends. If only everyone wasn’t so contaminated in this small musty van. Shawn conks out from the stuffy air in the car not knowing that the car ride is about to take an unexpected turn.

When shawn wakes up he looks around in extreme terror. His face pale white and drooping in disbelief. Everyone is surrounded by dark, sad and gloomy territory. As everyone looks their left they see a zombie coming out of the forest with an axe in it’s hand and all scream. This doesn’t stop. There is a continuous amount of them that begin to come out of the dull landscape. “Step on it!” Everyone screams as a zombie is very close to hitting the car. “Is that fast enough?” Asks Elliot’s mum Gloria. “Stopppppp!!!!!!!!!” Everyone screams at Gloria. She stops just in time and then realises that they precariously hanging off the side of a cliff. “Everyone slowly get out in 3, 2, 1.” Says Elliot’s mum. When she looks back everyone is already out and she is the last person to get out. She jumps out just in time as the car crashes down the cliff to its internal death.

Everyone looks around wondering what to do and as everyone looks to their left only to see… The butcher walking up to us with an axe in his hand hunched and dark. Everyone screams and starts to walk back. Everyone is in such a fright that we completely forgot that the cliff is behind us and all stumble over it to our internal doom. Crash. Elliot is back and awake in the car still surrounded by the wonderful landscape of trees and flowers, butterflies and bees. It must have all been a dream. Or was it?
